Jonathan Brown has committed to play football at Myrtle Beach Collegiate. Brown will receive an athletic scholarship to play for the Marauders. He was recruited as a Defensive End for the team.
In his senior season with the Raiders, Brown had 13 sacks, 25 tackles for a loss, 1 interception return for a touchdown, 6 catches for 136 yards, and a touchdown. He was named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution 2020 All-Metro Team and received an All-State Team Honorable Mention for Class 6A.
In his junior season, Brown helped lead the Raiders to a perfect 10-0 regular season and into the second round of the GHSA state playoffs. In that same 2019 season, Brown led the state in sacks, with 21, and was named MVP of Region 6AAAAA.
According to Riverwood Head Football Coach Robert Edwards, “Jonathan was a leader for our team on and off the field. He was so unselfish, doing whatever the team needed for him to do. He played about five different positions for us and didn’t complain once. He has been an impact player for Riverwood the last three years, and I feel he has a bright future ahead of him. Jonathan has just scratched the surface on how great he will be once he’s able to concentrate on one position and develop. He will definitely be a player that is hard to replace.”
Brown also played three years of Varsity Basketball as a Forward/Center for the Raiders and regularly volunteers at his church.
Congratulations, Jonathan! We are so #RICSProud of you!
